Chinese New Year 2026 Dishes

Here are some dishes to consider as you are planning to usher in the Year of the Horse in 2026! These dishes are available for dine in and takeaway!

Pure Gem Abalone Yu Sheng (5-6pax) S$88, Eight Treasures Duck S$128, Pure Gem Treasure Pot (5-6 pax) S$348, Stir Fried Glutinous Rice with Chinese Sausage S$38.80

Pure Gem Abalone Yu Sheng 璞珍鲍鱼捞起 (5-6pax) S$88

Pure Gem’s Yu Sheng stands out with crispy fried yam sticks, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and, of course, sliced abalone. If you’re dining in, you won’t have to worry about making a mess—thanks to their impressively large satellite serving dish that will really challenge any over enthusiastic Yu Sheng tosser!

Pure Gem Treasure Pot 璞珍珍宝盆菜 (5-6 pax) S$348

We’ve enjoyed many treasure pots before, but this one is easily among the tastiest we’ve had. The brown sauce is really, really very good and really brought all the different elements together. Even humble ingredients like cabbage and radish were transformed into true delicacies!

Eight Treasures Duck 八宝鸭 S$128

We’ve featured their Eight Treasure Duck before on the regular menu. For Chinese New Year, they’ve elevated the filling with a variety of mushrooms and seafood, including dried conch – a true festive classic.

Stir Fried Glutinous Rice with Chinese Sausage 生炒腊味糯米饭 S$38.8

Classic dish featuring chinese sausage which is traditionally eaten at CNY!

New Dishes for the New Year

Braised Pig Trotter with Mushroom and Dried Oyster 花菇发财燜豬手 $88.80, Member $68.80

The Chef is truly an expert at braising. Just like with the Pen Chai and shark’s fin dishes, his pig trotters in brown sauce are outstanding! The trotters are so tender that you can enjoy them without even needing to use your teeth! The sauce is rich and packed with satisfying collagen.

Teochew Braised Irish Fat Duck 潮州卤香爱尔兰肥鸭 $108, member $98

Growing up in a Teochew family, braised duck was always a highlight of our reunion dinners. Back then, we used local duck, but the Irish fat duck truly elevates this Teochew classic to another level. The meat is incredibly tender and juicy—an absolute joy to eat!

Roasted Black Char Siew 秘制黑叉烧 $77.80, member $58 (Large)

This dish is a regular item on the menu which we had reviewed in our earlier post!

New Dim Sum Dishes – B1F1

S$9.80/basket of 3 or 4 pcsSteamed Morel Mushroom Dumpling, Shrimp and Lemon Crystal Dumpling, Crispy Black Pepper Duck Glutinous Dumpling, Steamed Pumpkin and Pork Dumpling

They’ve added four new dim sum items to the menu, each beautifully crafted with unique and eye-catching designs.

We were especially surprised and delighted by the Crispy Black Pepper Duck Glutinous Dumpling 非常山竹 which it tastes every bit as good as it looks. My only complaint? It resembles a mangosteen, but there’s no mangosteen inside!

The Steamed PAP (Pumpkin and Pork) Dumpling 潮式南瓜球 was equally delicious, with a nicely chewy skin that perfectly complemented the savoury filling. At least this one looked like a pumpkin, and actually contains pumpkin!

We’d also argue that their Shrimp and Lemon Crystal Dumpling 香柠鱼籽水晶饺 has a skin more akin to har gow than a traditional crystal dumpling. But no matter what you call it, the generous filling and the bright lemon accent make it refreshingly delicious.

Lastly, the Steamed Morel Mushroom Dumpling 羊肚菌蒸饺 stood out with a slice of morel mushroom on top, lending an earthy depth that rounded off the selection beautifully.

New Dim Sum Promotion – B1F1

Best thing is that they have a B1F1, that means buy one get one free promotion so you have an incentive to check it out soon!

Alaskan King Crab Now S$15/100g (U.P S$30/100g), Braised Shark’s Fin in Traditional Teochew Style Now S$38 (U.P. S$68), Australian Western Rock Lobster Japanese Ramen with Superior Stock Now S$28 (U.P. 48)

Member Year End/New Year Specials

  • Alaskan King Crab 阿拉斯加帝王蟹 (advanced order required)
Alaskan King Crab is my favourite crab with one important caveat: it has to be live! Live Alaskan King Crab tastes far superior to the frozen variety, offering that fresh, sweet, and exquisite flavor straight from the deep sea.

Once you get hold of a live crab, all you need to do is steam it and you’re ready to enjoy a true seafood delicacy. There are a variety of ways to enjoy the crab, but we kept it simple with garlic, soy sauce and vermicelli. So good!

If you haven’t tried live Alaskan King Crab yet, this festive season and 50% member discount at Pure Gem, is the perfect reason to dive in and savor this luxurious treat!
  • Braised Shark’s Fin in Traditional Teochew Style 潮式怀旧碗仔翅
The Braised Shark’s Fin is excellent. The chef’s rich brown sauce, thick with collagen, is truly lip-smacking and pairs perfectly with the shark’s fin. While it’s not a whole fin, you’re still getting a generous dose of skin-tightening collagen at a great price.
  • Australian Western Rock Lobster Japanese Ramen with Superior Stock 上汤西澳洲龙虾日本拉面
We weren’t as impressed with this dish as we were of the preceding two. But we have to say that the quality of the lobster is very good. I still prefer my lobster noodles with crispy egg noodles.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a classy restaurant to celebrate Chinese New Year, PureGem is definitely worth a visit. The food is excellent, and the chef truly excels at braised dishes. Be sure to sign up as a member to enjoy exclusive discounts, and don’t miss the buy-one-get-one-free promotion for dim sum on weekends—perfect for a delicious weekend treat!
