Noi’s Mee Poh Tar: The famous one at Jalan Datoh

This stall is closed

If you ask around for Mee Pok recommendations, someone might just mention the one at Jalan Datoh. Yes, this is one of those quite famous stalls that have their band of supporters who have been eating there for years! Our friend Damien has been eating this Mee Pok since he was a knee biter and even though quite a few people have told me that they used to be much better (We Singaporeans just love to complain don’t we?), Damien says that he still enjoys it.

If you like your Bak Chor Mee with a strong vinegar kick, then this is a great place to visit. If you like your Ter Kwa (pig liver) then you will be dissapppointed. (They replaced it with prawns). If you like your noodles with a bit of a toothy bite, then you will love it. BUT if you like yours with plenty of lively Qness (springiness), then you will be dissappointed. So, as you can see, there are going to be people who will enjoy it and others who will complain about it. As for me its a bowl of noodles that I would eat if I am around Balestier and hankering for Bak Chor Mee. 4/5

Conclusion

So are you a fan of this Bak Chor Mee or like others do you feel that it used to be much better in the past?
