I generally eschew buffets. I find most of them to be pretty generic and nowadays I usually only have them when it is part of the hotel breakfast package. Oh, there was a time when I used to love buffets. But that was a long time ago when my appetite was much bigger and my palate, less discriminating. Buffets were a great idea then. You starve yourself for the whole day, then pay one price and try to eat more than your money’s worth of food. It used to be a profitable venture for me, but not anymore since I can’t eat as much and the prices of buffets have gone up significantly in the last decade.
This place is closedPenang Prawn Mee ($8.90 with pork ribs, $6.00 without) Ah Penang food. Who doesn’t like it? I guess we all enjoy it because it is so much like Singapore food, yet different. One good example of this is the Hokkien Prawn Mee. The soup in Penang is usually very robust. So much […]

Penang Food Trail 2: Streetside Night Spots Part 1
One thing I really enjoyed about Penang is the fact that they still have real streetside hawkers who come out at night to peddle their wares. These type of hawkers have long since dissappeared from Singapore except for the contrived ones along Lau Pa Sat and Gluttons Bay. There is a certain charm as well […]
