Lee Kheong Roasted Delicacy; Char Siew to Rival KL

Now that is what I call 5 flower pork! (Wu Hwa Rou)

Fatty Cheong's Charsiew has remained almost unchallenged since I blogged about him in the early days of the blog. We did come across one Char Siew that was even more "Tok Kong" (superlative) but that was Ming Kee which is in Kuala Lumpur.

Now our makan kaki, Liverpool has just recommended a stall to us which might just rival Fatty Cheong. Actually, he did not actually recommend the Char Siew. Instead he was telling us about their heavenly Sio Bak which has that melt in your mouth quality about it. But as luck would have it, we went on a day when the Sio Bak was just about to run out. So, we discovered their Char Siew instead.

The photos would tell you what I cannot describe in words. The Char Siew was so good it made me made me close my eyes to fully concentrate on the sweet savoury aroma of the pork. At one stage the kakis were even discussing if it could even be better than Ming Kee! 4.75/5

Their Sio Bak was very good but not what we were expecting based on Liverpool's glowing review. However, as I alluded to earlier, we had gone on a day when the Sio Bak had just about run out, so we did not get the best piece. It was still very good but we just have to come back to try it again another day to get a more accurate picture. 4.25/5

Conclusion

One of the best Charsiews I have tasted in Singapore. The Sio Bak that day was not that great but I think it is because we went late. I will definitely return another day to try it.

ieat, you mentioned the sio bak was not great but looking at photo, I can already imagine the crunch of the crackling as my teeth sink into it. Great pic there and well taken.

oh.. this is one of my lunch place.. my partner say he loves the charsiew siew yok fan... im not a fan of charsiew, dun mind their siew yok, so i dunno whether its really better than fatty cheong. Maybe i can buy for my hubby who is char siew fanatic and he can be judge haha. BTW they are very affordable, $3 a pack lots of meat.

Presentation wise, it's definitely better than Meng Kee. At Meng Kee, the char siew is usually dumped on the plate and served. =_=

Is the address wrong?
is it supposed to be New People's Park Market?

went there today with the intention of trying but alas they were already sold out at 3pm! i blame the pre-CNY crowd. the place is quite a maze though. i walked all over the place before finding the stall.

Went yesterday to try my luck, alas, the sio bak was gone when we reached at around 1+pm. Then we got one of the last duck drumsticks and some of the char siew. The char siew was very nice indeed....nice sweet nectar coating. :D

However my wife was more enamored by the roast duck...she said it was one of the best she's eaten, but when I asked her why, she can't come up with the reason. :(

I have to disagree to Lee Kheong's... travelled all the way and fought for parking today, which was horrendous... just to discover that both the char siew & roast duck was dry and uninteresting! Very disappointed and certainly not going back there again!

was there on sat. char siew was subpar.. but siobak was good.. lean meat with very little fat.. the skin was thin and really crispy 4.75/5 for the sio bak

I love the char siew too. When we had it the other day, we let out the oohs and ahhs in unison! : )
