Write a review and win a dinner for two at Cugini!

Not everyone wants to maintain a food blog but I know that there are a lot of foodies amongst our readers who are really good at recommending a good place to eat every now and again.

So, what I thought would be interesting is if our facebook group wall can be made into a community food blog where everyone recommend something good to eat. Even if you don't like to write a review, you can still join in the fun by commenting or even just clicking that you like the particular review. I think it can be a place where our foodies can interact and find something good to eat.

Just to make things a little more interesting and to get things going, I am running a competition where the best review will win a prize. This week's prize is a dinner for two at Cugini restaurant worth $150.

You can read about Cugini here:

Here is what you need to do:

Post a review with at least one photo of something you think is worth recommending on the ieatishootipost facebook group wall. You can see it here.

Rules:

1. Your review must not exceed 250 words (not including the address)
2. You must have at least one photo
3. It can be about any stall or restaurant in Singapore
4. You must include the address of the restaurant
5. You can submit as many reviews as you want

Judging Criteria

1. The quality of the review (50)
2. The photo (10)
3. The level of interest it generates (20)
4. The number of "Likes" it generates (20)

Prize:

1. Dinner at Cugini worth $150
2. Inclusion of member to " Foodie of the Week" list

Please Note:

1. Have fun! Don't take it too seriously.
2. The judge's decision is final
3. Closing date for entry: 15 November
4. Winner will be announced on 22nd November
5. Dates are subject to changes
6.. This is quite a new idea so please understand that there will be bumps along the way, but hopefully I can streamline it so that it becomes a regular feature where everyone can benefit from each other's review with the bonus possibility of winning a prize along the way.

So what are you waiting for? Let's eat, shoot and post!

hmmm if I ordered

Foie Grass with mango salad, Bronte pistachio and Sicilian Passito sauce $26
Hand cured beef with lemon oil and shaved Parmesan cheese $20
Freshly made truffle and potato ravioli with walnut butter and parmiggiano $22
Roasted lamb chops with green pepper, served with asparagus and mashed potato $34
Tiramisu with bitter chocolat sauce $9
Hot chocolate fondant cake with cherry sauce $12

it would work out to $144 for 2 after gst and service charge :)

guess the anonymous above wanted a table for 4? :)

Why not judge based on food? Judge based on reviews a little risky. Sikali the person writes well but the food taste lousy.. haha

ieat said...

Well we take everything into consideration!

Cugini uses only top quality imported produce. You can taste the difference. I agree with Byron that its great value. Food is reasonable for the quality.

Les, I like this contest. 100 words is not too daunting. : ). I'm looking forward to reading the reviews.

hi there, sorry to have posted the earlier comment here. i had intentions to publish my comments in your earlier article about the credibility of reviews but that has been closed by a blog administrator? (that's what the message said)

first of all i would like to say that i love the idea of this contest :)))) it just sounds like so much fun and it's a great way for us readers/followers to say what we feel about a restaurant and stall.

but i am just very curious about the prize which is the dinner at cugini. i have been following for blog for quite a while as i do enjoy reading about your recommendations. but at the same time i am wondering a little about the hype over Cugini.

i think ieat has written 2 reviews about this restaurant over a period of only 7 months, and that does not include the lunch charity and now also the prize for this competition.

the big discussion in your earlier article was about the credibility of reviews, so i am very curious to know how cugini scored 2 reviews over such a short time...something ieat doesn't really do? correct me on this if i'm wrong please. i have dined at cugini and i think they serve relatively decent food so no offence to them. but i guess my wonderings here stems from the whole discussion about credible reviews.

i notice that cugini have made it to your 'really must try list' and is the only restaurant in that list who has received 3 reviews (including the lunch charity)...again, correct me if i'm wrong please.

again, no offence to cugini but with all that discussion about the credibility of reviews, i am just really curious to know why this restaurant seems to get regular mention on your blog.

i'm just a curious cat...

Well, as far as I can remember, I haven't had a pasta which I felt I needed to eat again and again till I found the seafood pasta at Cugini.

I also appreciate the fact that Mauro, the chef actually cooks all the stuff himself plus makes his own pasta.

And on top of that, it seems to me that the mainstream media have somehow always gravitated towards some of the big names and neglected gems like Cugini.

Plus Gerri was very quick to agree to sponsoring the dinner for two when I brought it up to him and I know I can trust him to do a good job of looking after the prize winners.

thanks for the clarification. it's interesting that the chef makes his own pasta. and it's nice that they were keen on sponsoring the prize. $150 is a generous amount :)

am looking forward to the little competition...$150 is a generous amount. so do the restaurants change every week?

Well keep writing reviews in the facebook group and I will keep looking out for sponsors!
