Middle Road Pork Ribs Prawn Mee: Its Pork over Prawns

If you are looking for a interesting twist to the usual prawn mee, then this is it.
SCS Butter has been telling me about this unique stall for a while now. Basically this is a Prawn Mee where the emphasis is more on the pork than the prawn. As you know, most Prawn noodle places sell Prawn Noodles where the pork ribs are thrown in because they are also used to cook the soup. With this place, the Pig takes Pole Position and the Prawns are a Pathetic Passerby.
BUT, this is not Bak Kut Teh either. The taste is somewhat like Prawn Mee but it is not really. It is simply Pork Ribs Prawn Mee as is stated by their signboard.
The soup is robust and quite tasty but I am sort of unable to compare it with any other prawn noodles since it is so unique. I quite like it but not enough to want to eat it again soon. 4/5
Conclusion
You might like to try this if you are looking for a new taste. It is quite good, but for me I think I still prefer to have more of that that savoury prawn flavour in my Prawn Mee Soup.

haiz.. no chance for me to try already lor.. open until 2pm... T_T
looks like interesting twist.
Is this stall run by two old brothers (in the white China singlet)? They used to have a stall at Liang Seah Street corner many years ago selling exactly the same thing. One of the brothers used to ride a tricycle to work every morning, I still see on the tricycle around that area but have no idea where they had moved to. The dried prawn mee is to die for!
interesting variation of the normal prawn mee where the focus is more on the pork
me also think it is better to have a stronger prawn flavour
unless u like Pork Mee with boiled Prawn compared to Prawn mee with pork rib !
Still the one at Adam Road food center is the one to beat !
i have also heard many good things about the one at the coffeshop at Macpherson , opposite the old Jackson center....should go try one day
i have tried the one at Longhouse too but find that it is okay only
Derrick, I think the one to beat is Wah Kee in Pek Kio. Les has blogged about it, and I have too:

Hoe Nam, which is the one opposite the old Jackson Center is very good, but for me, rank below Wah Kee.

Wah! Only 8am-2pm!!!
Yes I concur with PChong, Wah Kee is still ranked higher than Hoe Nam purely because it is very different from the rest of the Prawn Mee and quite shiok still.
Yes, Wah Kee is my favourite prawn mee in Singapore. Love the soup and the big, fresh prawns.
wah. my dad has brought me once to wah kee before...not been there in ages....
looks like got to plan a trip there... are they open daily for lunch ? and dinner ?
Yes, Wah Kee's soup is unique. Haven't tasted another quite like it. Not really a traditional prawn soup taste but ooohh so nice.
Derrick go to Wah Kee but not on Mon or at dinner for they will be closed. Two thumbs up for Wah Kee's prawn noodle. As for this "pork mee", there is another stall with the same name at 269B Cheng Yan Court next to Albert FC n Fu Lu Shou. Khim, Pong, maybe you can try here. Sorry to say I do not know their operating hours except Mon is off

ah you should have gone To Mei Ling Street a while back...an uncle there used to make a very similar prawn and rib soup!..
This post is about Middle road pork rib soup but everyone is talking about Wah Kee. Isn't there any supporter of this stall?
ieat...haven't try ma...but it seems neither here nor there...not quite bak kut teh, not quite prawns, but a hybrid.
I think the owner just likes pork.
sorry, ieat, never tried this stall. I had been eating at the other stall at Cheng Yan Court since I stumbled on it 5 years ago. This stall is also called Middle Road Pork Ribs Prawn Mee. First tried this dish when it was next to the Middle Road Hospital in the early 80's.
ieat, were there kidney, intestine, skin, etc? I can only see liver and pork ribs in your pic, also the mee seems to be served separately.
Chaozhouzi
Thanks for the info Zhouzi,
I am not really big on pig innards, so I did not actively look for the other organs. They should be there.
Went to Cheng Yan Court stall to check their operation time. Khim and Pong, sorry to say the one at CYC also operate from 8am to 2pm.
Went to Sam Leong Rd to Ta pao 2 pkts home. While waiting for my order, learnt that both stalls are similar. Was told by their helper that CYC is sort of franchised. Sam Leong operators are the children of the original.
ieat, I am surprised, how did you cope when reviewing kway chap (5 stalls at last count ;})? ~ chaozhouzi ~
OOps, taste wise it is the same at both stalls.
Thanks Chaozhouzi!!! =D
I usually go for the meat and skin. But nowadays, I am also going for intestines.
Ooooh... I love intestines in prawn noodles.
Wah Kee @ Pek Kio has the best prawn mee, bar none.
I just had my fix on Tuesday. $10 for 3 sexy big prawns. Absolutely gratifying.
In stark contrast, I don't believe I waited half an hour for Sheng Seng HKM only to be thoroughly disappointed. Utterly.
Btw still in the same FC, Soon Kee has pretty good wanton and shuigao noodles. I had a very scrumptious bowl of shuigao (shrimp dumpling) soup. mmm... =)
Hhahahahahah! "$10 for 3 sexy big prawns. Absolutely gratifying."
Now now,
What's so funny? =x
Did you watch District 9???? ; )
Middle road pork rib soup at Queen Street is diluted compare to the stall at Sam Leong Road. I patronised both but still prefer the one at Sam Leong.
